Davis Malm is pleased to announce that Dave Powsner has joined the firm as a shareholder. Dave is an IP attorney, advising high-tech companies on a range of complex matters.  Applying a physics degree from MIT, computer programming experience and IP expertise, Dave provides practical guidance on patent, copyright, trade secret, trademark, licensing and litigation matters. He represents companies with products in a variety of tech markets, including medical devices, computer software, networking and consumer electronics.

Dave is actively involved in the startup community, volunteering time and coaching new businesses. Through his membership in the MIT Enterprise Forum and local angel investment groups, he has guided hundreds of startup companies as they prepare for early stages of growth, including through fundraising, and IP acquisition and protection. He was also a principal organizer of the MIT Enterprise Forum’s Software Entrepreneurship SIG, which he co-founded a decade ago, and is now active in running educational programs that bring together the angel investment and startup communities.

Davis Malm President Amy Fracassini commented, “The addition of Dave expands and strengthens our IP capabilities, as well as our reach into the tech market, where we already have a strong reputation. Dave is highly respected in Boston’s startup community, and we look forward to the insights he will bring to the firm.”

Dave said, “Davis Malm shares my values of going beyond legal counsel to partner with clients to help them achieve their business goals. I look forward to working with this growing team of IP and business attorneys in Boston.”

This is Davis Malm’s second new hire announcement this month. On October 2, the firm announced the addition of accomplished tax attorney, Phil Olsen, to its Business practice.

Collectively, Phil and Dave bring over four decades of joint experience to the firm.
