On March 23, Davis Malm shareholder Rob Munnelly presented at the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) program, “Protecting Data 2016.” Rob’s presentation, “Best Practices for WISPs and Other Security Policies,” covered aspects of WISPs (Written Information Security Programs), including why they are important as well as how and when to review them.

The MCLE Protecting Data 2016 program seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of data security developments affecting Massachusetts businesses and institutions in 2016. It also focused particular attention on the key legal and operational measures that should be considered for inclusion in any effective information security program. This program also provided a timely update on recent enforcement trends and the evolving roles of the Consumer Protection Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office as reviewers of business practices and protectors of consumer rights relative to sensitive data. Co-presenting with Munnelly were Sara Cable from the Consumer Protection Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office in Boston, MA, and Michael Hammond from accounting firm of O’Connor & Drew, P.C. in Braintree, MA.
