Davis Malm attorney Sandy Moskowitz has been appointed a co-chair of the Equal Justice Coalition’s new Private Bar Advisory Committee. The EJC is a diverse group of more than 180 organizations and individuals committed to ensuring that poor people throughout Massachusetts have equal access to legal representation and to the courts. This new committee, comprised of private practice lawyers, will make recommendations to the EJC’s governing board as to new and appropriate areas where assistance is needed and how the private bar can better assist in those efforts.

Sandy is uniquely qualified to offer his perspective on areas where legal services are lacking for the poor as he is a former legal services attorney and a co-founder of the Boston Bar Association Lawyer for the Day Program at the Boston Housing Court, which he continues to oversee. This trailblazing program provides unrepresented individuals in the Housing Court with expert eviction and eviction defense advice, and now trial representation, by volunteer private practice lawyers. In recognition of his dedication, Sandy received the prestigious Adams Pro Bono Publico Award by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in June 2006.
