As Chair of the Massachusetts Equal Justice Coalition, Davis Malm shareholder Sandy Moskowitz organized and moderated a recent conference with newly appointed Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Roderick L. Ireland. This meeting was held among leaders of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, legal aid providers, and the Chief Justice to discuss the crucial importance of funding legal aid for the poor and to explore ways the Court and the legal aid community can work together to improve equal access to justice for all litigants.

The Equal Justice Coalition is collaboration among the MBA, the BBA, and the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation committed to ensure that low income people have access to the courts when they have a civil (non-criminal) matters.

Sandy has dedicated himself to supporting civil legal assistance throughout his entire three-decade legal career. Before taking his current position at the EJC, he created and operated the BBA Lawyer for a Day Program at the Boston Housing Court for over ten years. The Housing Court openly acknowledges how helpful that program has been in both assisting low income litigants and in relieving the great burden pro se litigants have on the court and its clerk’s office. In 2006, Sandy was awarded the Adams Pro Bono Publico Award by the SJC for his work in this program.
