On April 16, 2020, Chuck DeBevoise was quoted in the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly article “Terms make PPP loan program ‘no brainer’ for firms, experts say.” The article discusses how law firms might benefit from the small business loans made available under the CARES Act.

Boston banking attorney Charles H. DeBevoise has one piece of advice for law firms considering applying for a PPP loan. “Don’t ‘self-select’ yourself out of the opportunity,” DeBevoise says. “Let the banker or the SBA tell you you’re not eligible.”

The best way for a law firm to start the application process typically is to contact the local bank the firm ordinarily does business with, DeBevoise advises. “It’s a whole lot easier to go to a bank with whom you’ve already established a banking relationship,” he says.
